Natural Setting
Located in the Iberic Peninsula, alongside Portugal and the Gibraltar, Spain has a predominantly mountainous relief, the Pyrenees and the Sierra Nevada are by far one of the most known mountain rangers of the country. In the East, Spain meets the Mediterranean Sea, where you can find the Baleares Islands, considered Spanish territory, and in the west, it borders the Atlantic Ocean, where the Canary Islands can be found. Spain has two other territories in the North of Africa.
Renowned for its Mediterranean climate, with pleasant temperatures and sunny days, Spain is one of the most beloved European vacation destination. Besides the well-known urban centers, Barcelona or Valencia, where you can find stunning natural settings and dynamic beaches, the south of Spain, Andalusia, with it’s interesting provinces, between Granada, Cadiz, Cordoba or Sevilla, must be on your travel bucket list.
In Andaluzia, if you are interested in beaches less frequented by tourists, you must reach de Cabo de Gata area, Almeria, and if you want to relax while being in nature and to observe various bird species, you can go to the Doñana National Park which is an UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Good to know
As everybody knows, Spanish people are in general warm and friendly and this is why when entering any establishment, small shop, restaurant and even an elevator, you can hear people greeting you. You can say HOLA, BUENAS or, if you are in the Mediterranean area (Catalonia, Valencia Community or Balearic Islands) BON DIA, BONA TARDA or BONA NIT.
You can also say ADIOS, HASTA LUEGO or ADEU (only in the Mediterranean area) as a farewell when departing. Don’t be shy, use these forms if you want to feel more local. The Spanish people will appreciate it.
Tips

Pay attention to the Spanish laws!
Smoking is prohibited in all restaurants, hotels, public building and almost everywhere. Pay attention to signs if you don’t want to break any rule.

What happens at the beach, stays at the beach!
If you are visiting some of the Mediterranean cities, it is not a good idea to use your swimwear out of the wonderful beaches areas, even during summer.

It`s (Spanish) lunch time!
Remember that lunch and dinner time are later in Spain than in the rest of Europe. Lunch time is between 1:00 PM and 2:30 PM and dinner time between 9:00 PM and 10:00 PM.
